SpotMatch (“we,” “our,” “us”) is a location-based dating app available on iOS and Android. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently and securely. By using our services you agree to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

1) Who we are (Data Controller)

2) What we collect
We collect the information you provide directly, information created when you use SpotMatch, and limited information from third-party services we rely on.
Information you provide

Account details: email address, name, phone number, age.

Profile content: photos/images you upload, bio, interests, preferences (if you choose to add them).

Messages & interactions: messages, likes, check-ins, and other in-app interactions.

Support communications: questions, bug reports, or feedback you send us.
Information we get when you use SpotMatch

Location data: precise or approximate location to power nearby discovery and venue-based check-ins (e.g., a café). You control location permissions in your device settings.

Device & usage data: app version, device model, operating system, language, time zone, IP address, crash/diagnostic logs, and in-app activity needed to secure and improve the service.

Push notification tokens: to deliver notifications you opt into.
Third-party services (processors)

Google / Firebase (e.g., Authentication, Firestore/Realtime Database, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, Analytics, possibly Maps/Places). These providers process data on our behalf to deliver core app functionality, analytics, reliability, and safety.
We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. Do not use SpotMatch if you are under 18.
3) How we use your information

Provide and operate the app (account creation, login, matching, messaging, venue check-ins).

Location-based discovery (show people near you and around selected venues; power check-ins).

Safety, security, and moderation (detect spam, abuse, and violations of our Terms).

Customer support (respond to requests; debug issues).

Improve SpotMatch (analytics, performance monitoring, feature development).

Communications (push notifications and in-app messages about matches, messages, and app updates—you can control notifications in settings).

Legal compliance (meet legal obligations, enforce terms, protect rights).
No selling of personal data. We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their own marketing.
4) Legal bases (GDPR, where applicable)

Performance of a contract: to provide the app and its features.

Consent: for optional features (e.g., precise location, push notifications) and where required by law. You can withdraw consent in your device/app settings.

Legitimate interests: to keep the service safe, prevent fraud/abuse, and improve features (balanced against your rights).

Legal obligations: to comply with applicable laws and requests from authorities.
5) Sharing your information
We only share your information in these limited cases:

Service providers / processors: Google/Firebase and similar vendors that support authentication, hosting, storage, analytics, messaging, crash reporting, and location/places. They may access data only to perform services for us and must protect it.

With other users: content you choose to share (e.g., your name, age, photos, check-ins, and messages) is visible to the intended recipients or nearby users as designed by the app.

Legal & safety: to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect rights, property, and safety of users or the public.

Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, data may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to this Policy.
We do not share your personal information with third parties for their independent advertising or marketing.
6) Data retention

We keep your personal data only as long as necessary to provide SpotMatch and for legitimate business or legal purposes.

When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data from active systems. Backups and logs are purged on a schedule (typically within 30–90 days), subject to legal holds. Messages another user received may remain in that user’s account/history.
7) Your choices & rights
Access, update, delete.

You can access and edit profile information in the app.

You can delete your account in the app (e.g., Settings → Delete Account) or by emailing support@spotmat.ch. Deleting your account removes personal data from active systems; see Retention above for backups.
Permissions.

Location: enable/disable in device settings; precise location improves matching and check-ins.

Photos/Camera: you can choose whether to upload images.

Notifications: opt in/out in device settings.
GDPR (where applicable):

Right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection/withdrawal of consent.

You can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
CCPA/CPRA (California):

We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as defined by CCPA/CPRA.

8) Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your data (e.g., transport encryption, restricted access, hardened infrastructure). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your account details private.
9) International data transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than where you live (e.g., EU, US). When we transfer personal data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable).
10) Children’s privacy
SpotMatch is for adults (18+) only. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using SpotMatch, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
11) Third-party services & SDKs
SpotMatch integrates third-party services such as Google and Firebase (Authentication, Firestore/Realtime Database, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, Analytics, possibly Maps/Places). These services may collect device identifiers, usage data, and diagnostics as described in their own privacy policies. You can manage many SDK-level settings (e.g., Analytics) in the app or device settings where offered.
12) Do Not Track
Your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting is not recognized by all mobile SDKs. We do not currently respond to DNT signals, but you can control data collection via app/device settings where available.
13) Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by other appropriate means. Your continued use of SpotMatch after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
